Plus, the star power this season is impressive: Michelle Pfeiffer as Homer s comely, donut-loving co-worker in The Last Temptation of Homer, Albert Brooks as a self-help guru who unleashes Bart s Inner Child, Kathleen Turner as the creator of Malibu Stacy in Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy, and, as themselves, the Ramones ( Rosebud ), James Woods ( Homer and Apu ), Buzz Aldrin ( Deep Space Homer ), and even Robert Goulet ( Springfield ).
But it is the writers and the core ensemble cast who exhibit, to quote Deep Space Homer, the right... What s that stuff? Series milestones include the first appearance of yokel Cletus in Bart Gets an Elephant, and Maggie s infant nemesis, The Baby with One Eyebrow in Sweet Seymour Skinner s Badasssss Song, which also happens to be The Simpsons 100th episode. Add in a very good Treehouse of Horror episode, (which outs Ned Flanders as the Devil and Marge as the head vampire), and one Emmy-nominated musical extravaganza ( Who Needs the Quick-E-Mart from Homer and Apu ), and you have a Simpsons season that s not just great, it s DVD-box-set great.

An anonymous letter writer makes ominous threats to Bart. The Simpsons discover they were sent by Sideshow Bob who, when released from prison, harasses the Simpsons and then attempts to kill Bart with a machete. But Bob s vanity foils him yet again.
Season 5, Episode 3: Homer Goes to College

During a surprise inspection by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Homer causes an accident inside a test module that (somehow) causes a meltdown. The inspectors warn Mr. Burns that Homer is not properly certified and - in order for him to keep his job, as well as avoid sanctions - he needs to take a college course. After several of his applications are rejected, Burns finally enrolls Homer at Springfield College. Homer - owing to his lack of intelligence and preconceptions - acts like a child while on campus. After he causes a serious accident in class, Dean Petersen refers Homer to computer science majors Benjamin, Doug and Gary for tutoring. But Homer wants the trio - who turn out to be nerds - to gain a social life and talks them into a prank involving a rival college s pig mascot. The prank backfires and the nerds are expelled. Homer offers them a place in his home, but the nerds quickly disrupt the family routine, and Marge demands that he tell them to move out. Seeing they need to be back in school, Homer masterminds a scheme to have their suspensions lifted, but Dean Petersen is seriously hurt in the process. Eventually, the nerds are reinstated and when Homer is ill-prepared for the final, they help him cram. It doesn t work: Homer gets an F ... or did he? Actually, Homer convinced the nerds to hack into the master computer and change his grades, but Marge isn t fooled and makes her husband re-take the course. Homer, however, sees the opportunity not as a second chance but as more time to party

When Homer announces he would sell his soul for a donut, the Devil, disguised as Ned Flanders, shows up to take him up on the offer. Second Act, while ridings to school, Bart believe he sees a malevolent gremlin on the side of the bus. And final act, Mr. Burns is Dracula, in a spoof of Francis Ford Coppola s vampire film.

Homer is given the task to teach a adult education class about relationships, He fails to woo the class until he starts talking about his and Marges sex life, when Marge finds out she orders him not to talk about their privet life again but instead invites his entire class to dinner, this is the final straw and Marge chucks him out of the house and he moves in to Bart s tree house, after seeing the error of his ways he asks Marge for a second chance, she accepts and the two reconcile.
