對於大銀幕上的蜘蛛俠，通過已經上映的三部曲，國內觀眾已經了解的不少了，甚至可以說是耳熟能詳了。2002年蜘蛛俠漫畫面世40周年的時候，蜘蛛俠的首部電影面世，創下了美國首映周末票房紀錄——1.148億美元！。並將這一紀錄保持了4年！為什麼一部電影在這麼短的時間內讓如此多的人搶著去影院觀看呢？就是因為蜘蛛俠漫畫的魅力！
2001年，驚奇(Marvel)公司出版了10期叫做“驚奇史上百強”(The 100 Greatest Marvels of All Time)的類似排行榜的系列漫畫。在這個榜單中，一本在1962年出版的叫做《神奇幻想-15期》(Amazing Fantasy #15)的漫畫排名高居第一，因為在這本漫畫書中，驚奇公司最成功的偶像和超級英雄——蜘蛛俠首次登場！年輕的高中生Peter Parker(初期的漫畫裡，peter看起來就像四、五十歲的大叔一樣，60年代的畫風吧，囧)在一次科技展會上被一只受過輻射的蜘蛛咬傷，他隨即發現自己有了超能力，接下來的和電影裡差不多。這期漫畫刊出後，很多讀者認為這個出身普通階層，性格內向，經常被同學嘲笑的高中生和自己有很多共鳴之處，在收到了讀者的熱烈反響後，Marvel決定給這個角色單獨發行一套系列漫畫，取名為：The Amazing Spider-Man ，從1963年開始(先小小的劇透一下，在第一期裡，蜘蛛俠竟然想要加入成名已久的神奇四俠，並和四人較量了一番，他為什麼要加入？較量結果又如何？請自行觀看~
)，一直到1998年11月，共發行了441期。然後Marvel公司從1991年1月起將這套漫畫的標題號歸零，從#1發行，這樣一直到2003年蜘蛛俠漫畫面世40周年的時候，這套新標題號的漫畫已經出了58期，在2003年11月又改回原始的標題號繼續發行了第500期，截止到現在已經發行到598期了。
當然，蜘蛛俠並不只出現在這套漫畫裡，在《新復仇者》系列、《神奇蜘蛛俠家庭》系列、以及一些平行宇宙的系列，如《神奇蜘蛛女俠》、《終極蜘蛛俠》、等等系列漫畫中都有蜘蛛俠的身影。但《神奇蜘蛛俠》顯然是蜘蛛俠的主線漫畫，也是第一部並且在很長時間裡也是唯一的一部正規的蜘蛛俠漫畫。許多主要的角色如F4、X-Man、美國隊長、鋼鐵人，和許多著名的反派角色如綠魔、章魚博士、毒液、蜥蜴教授、沙人、神秘客、禿鹫、金並(Kingpin)、毒蠍(Scorpion)、電光人(Electro)、變色龍(Chameleon)、獵人克拉文(Kraven the Hunter)、屠夫(Carnage)等等等等都會在這套漫畫中被提到。而且還有許多(但不是全部)的關鍵事件是發生在這套漫畫中的。
蜘蛛俠和Marvel的很多英雄相比並不算厲害，但蜘蛛俠經常用腦而不是用身體去擊敗對手，這是我喜歡他的重要原因之一。蜘蛛俠的影響力，在美國自然不用說，連現總統奧巴馬都自曝他小時候就喜歡收集蜘蛛俠漫畫，是個蛛蛛俠迷。為此驚奇公司在2009年3月出版的第583期《神奇蜘蛛俠》中，特意安排了一個奧巴馬和蜘蛛俠相遇的故事。


這期《神奇蜘蛛俠》封面上，奧巴馬豎起大拇指，蜘蛛俠在他身後說：“嘿，如果我把你印在《神奇蜘蛛俠》封面上，你可以把我印到美元上嗎？”
引用Spider-Man first appeared in issue #15 of the comic book Amazing Fantasy (Aug. 1962). The series was cancelled with that issue, but response to the character was so positive that the new title, The Amazing Spider-Man was launched, issue #1 appearing in March 1963. Surprisingly, in The Amazing Spider-Man #1, Spider-Man tried to join the Fantastic four.
The character was created by writer/editor Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Steve Ditko, and the pair produced 38 issues of Amazing from 1963 to 1966. Since then, many writers and artists have taken over the monthly comic over the years chronicling the adventures of Marvel's most identifiable hero.
The Amazing Spider-Man is considered to be the “lead” Spider-Man title, as it was the first (and for many years, the only) regular Spider-Man comic, and it has been in print since 1963. Most of the major characters and villains of the Spider-Man saga were introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man, and many (but not all) of the key events occurred in the title too. The title was published continuously until 1998 when Marvel Comics decided to begin it anew by renumbering the title with a new issue #1 published in January, 1999. In 2003, Spider-Man's 40th anniversary, this new title reverted to using the numbering of the original series, at issue #500.
