　　在古老的香都王國，意大利旅行家馬可-波羅告別可汗，准備返回自己的家鄉。為維護友誼，可汗欲將充滿神奇力量的魔法金幣送給他。不料，對王位垂涎已久的大臣福林卻尋機偷走金幣，隨後便隱匿無蹤。可汗得知真相後，將自己隨身攜帶的金幣一分為二，送給老馬可。憑借這半枚金幣，他們的後人可以穿梭時空。一旦兩家人相聚，金幣便可重獲魔力。
　　時光飛逝，老馬可的後裔小馬可已經長成英俊青年。他佩戴祖傳的半枚金幣，歷盡艱難險阻，來到香都王國。在海鷗瑞傑等朋友的幫助下，小馬可終於揭開金幣之謎，並從福林手中奪回了被竊走的金幣，救出了可愛的荷花公主。但福林卻再次出現，派出禿鹫賴古再次搶走了荷花公主手中的金幣。為了伸張正義，懲處惡魔，小馬可又踏上了征程……
幕後制作
　　《馬可-波羅回香都》是由中國大連阿凡提國際動畫公司與美國托尼文索公司聯合攝制完成的一部動畫故事片。
　　這部抒情加驚險的動畫大片是中國、美國、韓國、澳大利亞、加拿大、保加利亞、斯洛伐克等7國數百位動畫藝術家歷時5年創作完成的，共繪制了12萬張原動畫，這些畫稿如果連著鋪在地上足有60公裡長。這部講述中國和意大利人民友好交往的動畫片，不僅有曲折優美的故事，而且隨著小馬可的航海歷程，還展現了世界各地的風情。小馬可的朋友變色恐龍，中國公主的朋友大象邁克和惡魔的幫凶禿鷹，都采用擬人化手法，顯得誇張而有趣。
　　《馬可-波羅回香都》采用了最先進的電腦特技，還邀請了國際上的當紅歌星演唱其中的7首插曲。影片配音采取了英語和普通話兩種語言，中文版配音工作是在上海電影譯制廠進行的。丁建華擔任配音導演，喬榛則為片中威嚴的忽必烈可汗配音。為小馬可配音的是上海有線電視台體育節目主持人譯男。
　　這部影片的創作可以說是一次國際性合作的嘗試。由於創作人員來自不同的國度，文化背景存在差異，語言交流也有很大障礙，給影片創作帶來一定的難度。導演朗-馬可說：“這是我從未遇到過的最艱巨的任務，作為一個處於影片制作最中心的人物，我要以總導演的身份，用最佳辦法把我的想法傳遞給上百位我從未謀面的人。”

Plot: An adventure story about a young Marco whose ancestor was
      the descendant of the famous historical Marco Polo, takes
      an exciting journey to the mythical kingdom of Xanadu. He
      must travel back to the land of the Kubla Khan to save it
      from an evil villain who is a magician, known as Foo-Ling
      who does not want Marco to reach Xanadu. The help of his
